London Larder was devised in 2012 to bring you the ultimate eating and drinking guide to London. It was borne out of a need for up-to-date, quantitative and whole-heartedly recommended places to eat and drink.

Why I love the Dickens Inn

Any visit to The Dickens Inn at St Katherine's Docks, near Tower Bridge, will be the best of times and hopefully not the worst of times. With a name like this and a location near an international landmark, you might be forgiven for thinking that The Dickens Inn would be just another tourist trap, full of loud visitors to our city, but in fact it's just enough away from the beaten track for this to be a pub for Londoners in the know.

Set on the docks with expensive looking yachts moored outside, it's a great pub for a summer afternoon and with very friendly service, it's certainly no Bleak (public) House. The selection of beers is extensive and the prices are fairly reasonable, so it won't break the bank, even though these are Hard Times. So take our tip and pay them a visit, your Great Expectations won't be disappointed.
