Why I love Red Rose Tandoori

The mark of a great restaurant is a celebrity endorsement and recommendations don't come with more authority than that of rock band The Darkness, who proclaimed the Red Rose Tandoori in Islington to be their favourite Indian restaurant. How do we know? Because their picture is displayed eight feet high outside the restaurant, along with photos of Ed Miliband, Anne Widdecombe and others enjoying their curry. And having tasted it, we can see why it attracts such illustrious customers.

The quality of the food is excellent, authentic dishes with every imaginable curry on the menu. The service is great too, the sort of place where the staff remembers the regular customers and welcomes them back like old friends. The best thing about the Red Rose Tandoori though is the price, with an average meal of curry, rice, naan and large beer all for £20 - including a generous tip. Great value, great food - and you may just see a minor celebrity too!

  1. I've also been to the Red Rose many times and fully agree with all the above. The owner, Abdul, always greets his female customers with "Hello, lovely lady", which can't be a bad start to an evening!
