Suda

Mango Month

Suda is introducing a new menu for the month of June, based around the mango. This fruit, very commonly utilised in Thai food, is coming into season with the arrival of the summer and Suda has chosen June to celebrate its important role in Thailand's cuisine.

Despite having a focus on one ingredient, the menu includes a wide variety of dishes. The seafood-based starters are served with delicious mango salads and chilli infused dressings. The three main courses on the menu all find different ways to incorporate the mango element. The sesame chicken, for example, comes with a selection of Thai vegetables and a fruity mango based sweet and sour sauce, while the duck based red curry contained succulent mango chunks.

The sauce on the red curry was truly excellent, possibly one of the best in London, and it complemented the duck perfectly. We would absolutely recommend it for anyone who is a fan of red curry. Whilst the chicken was good, it was overshadowed a little by how good the duck is, which is no bad thing, because had it not been on the same menu, the chicken would have been a standout dish.

The desserts on the mango menu are focused around a combination of mango and different kinds of Thai rice. The sticky coconut rice was delicious and succulent, and it's hard to believe that a humble grain of rice can be so sweet. One of the best things about the menu is the price though. Mains cost less than £10 and you can get a full three course meal for under £20 a head. In addition to the wonderful food there was also a selection of interesting Thai themed cocktails, which are definitely worth sampling.

All in all, Suda's new Mango menu is most definitely worth a try, and available from the 1 to the 30 of June, so you need to be quick!
