Getti

Italian
Marylebone

Getti Italian restaurant is set on the bustling Marylebone High Street and was one of the many restaurants from the area that recently took part in the Marylebone Summer Fayre: an annual event which showcases the best of the area with music, performance, food and stalls set out over several streets. The restaurant itself is a very traditional Italian place, and was very busy when we went on Saturday lunchtime. As a takeaway street snack they were offering smaller versions of a couple of the pizzas on the full menu, and the buzz on the outside extended inside with barely any tables free at 2pm.

Despite being almost completely full, the service was excellent and the waiters at Getti were all very attentive. We tried the foccacia con sale e rosmarino as a starter, and went for the golosa (sausage heavy, with spicy salami, Tuscan sausage and frankfurters) and the crudo e burrata (parma ham and two kinds of mozzarella) pizzas for the mains.

The pizzas were great and very traditional; exactly the sort of pizza you would expect to get in a pizzeria in Rome, and both were absolutely delicious. Particularly noteworthy was the inclusion of basil on the crudo e burrata, which was perfectly balanced with the other flavours, something that can often be very difficult to achieve.

The menu at Getti is very reasonably priced with pizzas coming in between around £10-15, and all are very large. There is a nice selection of other Italian favourites on the menu as well for people who aren't pizza lovers.

Overall a very pleasant experience at Getti, in a nicely laid out restaurant with friendly, helpful staff, that is well worth a visit if you find yourself in that neck of the woods.
